Invoice terms explained

Estimated billing

If you're on an installment plan or we can't get an accurate reading on your meter, you'll receive an estimated invoice. When this happens, we'll send you an estimated bill calculated on your average usage.

Reasons for estimated billing

  • Access

The meter reader couldn't access your meter due to locked gate/animals/obstructions.

  • Billing installments

Users with basic meters on a monthly or quarterly installment plan will always have estimated bills to balance payments throughout the year.

  • Faults

If your meter has a fault, an accurate reading may not be possible.

How are estimates calculated?

  • Estimates are calculated based on your average energy usage, obtained from your historial billing data. If no historical data is available (i.e. for new CovaU customers), averages are calculated based on similar customer data over the same time period.
  • When an accurate reading is obtained your next invoice will show an adjustment, or we'll send an extra adjusted invoice, to ensure that you're never overcharged or undercharged for the energy that you use.
